Stable serialized data
Package upgrades preserve existing serialized class/field names and enum values so saved scenes, prefabs and Type Sets remain compatible.
Which files should I keep?
- Keep World Data: it stores the plants you placed. Also keep Type Sets, sprites, painted maps and their .meta files.
- The atlas combines plant sprites into one texture. Runtime Data is a faster-to-load version of the saved plants. Both can be rebuilt from the files above.
- Temporary rendering data can be recreated. Rebuilding it does not recover plants deleted from World Data.
Package upgrades
Preserve .meta GUIDs for existing files when updating the package. New files receive new GUIDs. If a package update changes only Editor tooling or documentation, existing vegetation data should not be invalidated merely because scripts recompiled.
