Top-down sorting
Top-down vegetation is grouped into Y strips so transparent vegetation can interleave with world sprites. Smaller strips improve depth granularity but can increase presentation complexity. Keep the default unless the art requires finer crossing.
Sorting overrides
A type may override Sorting Layer and Order. Do this for semantic layers such as foreground flowers or effects, not as a replacement for Y sorting across the entire world.
Flat proxy sorting layers
Use flat sorting only for vegetation layers that do not need Y interleaving with characters or other world sprites. It trades interleaving flexibility for a simpler submission path.
