Type defaults
A vegetation type defines the shared rules for all of its sprite variants: placement size/weight, color, shadow behavior, wind profile and optional sorting override. Keep common settings at the type level so variants stay lightweight.
Variants and overrides
- Primary shows the type defaults.
- Variant 1+ should normally inherit those defaults.
- Enable an override only when that sprite genuinely needs a different color, shadow or wind response.
- Changing one variant override should refresh only the relevant presentation data, not regenerate world placement.
Wind modes
- Vertex Wind — simple silhouette bending; best default for grass and small plants.
- UV Wind — texture-space distortion; silhouette stays fixed and an optional strength mask controls local response.
- Vine Wind — shared segmented geometry for vines, ropes and long leaves. Cheap is the scalable analytic path; Advanced is GPU Verlet chain motion.
