Modern 2D Vegetation / Documentation
Glossary
Short definitions for the terminology used throughout the inspectors and documentation.
- Area
- A scene object that controls plants inside a rectangle. Select it in Hierarchy to paint plants or change their shared settings.
- Type Set
- Reusable library of vegetation types and sprite variants.
- Type
- Shared placement/appearance/wind/shadow rules for one vegetation family.
- Variant
- Alternate sprite inside one type; normally inherits the type defaults.
- Source Data / World Data
- The project file that remembers your plant placements. Keep it to preserve the world you painted.
- Runtime Data
- A copy prepared from your saved plants and settings so the game can load and draw them faster. It can be rebuilt.
- Page / Region
- A small piece of the vegetation world. Loading and updating pieces avoids processing the whole map at once.
- Flat sorting
- Drawing plants on a fixed front/back layer instead of changing their order with vertical position.
- Wind Area
- A zone where wind is different, such as a vent or a sheltered place.
- Wind Emitter
- A short wind burst or moving trail, such as a gust from a dash or explosion.
- Interactor
- Character/object component for continuous vegetation response and one-shot interaction actions.
- Interaction state
- Gameplay changes such as cut, destroyed or regrowing plants. These affect the plants' appearance separately from their saved positions.
- Harvest
- Remove planted crops and report how many of each type were collected.
