Project setup

Use URP with a 2D Renderer. Unity's Universal 2D template is a useful starting point for a new project. The supplied release projects already have their packages configured.

For an existing project, install URP, Input System, 2D Sprite, 2D Animation, 2D PSD Importer and 2D Aseprite Importer through Window > Package Manager before importing. Choose versions compatible with your Editor. The included characters use Input System and the 2D importers.

Supported first-release modes

  • Release projects target Unity 6.0, 6.3 and 6.5 with URP. Use the matching project and test a Player on your target hardware.
  • Top-down 2D and Platformer 2D perspectives.
  • Vertex Wind, UV Wind, Vine Cheap and optional GPU Verlet Vine Advanced.
  • Directional, Blob and Flat Sprite vegetation shadows.

Current limits worth knowing

  • Wind Manager transient source capacity: 32.
  • Wind Manager transient impact capacity: 32.
  • Wind Area / interaction polygon authoring: up to 64 points.
  • Vine Advanced: shared hard pool of 1000 active vines per game across TypeSet vegetation and Sprite Wind; excess vines use Vine Cheap.
  • Persistent Cut/Destroy/Grow/Regrow state is texture/spatial-state based and does not use a small fixed interaction-zone slot limit.

Intentional exclusions

  • Only Top-down 2D and Platformer 2D are product rendering modes; there is no 2.5D backend.
  • Vine Cheap is shader-only. Vine Advanced uses one isolated GPU Verlet pool and never creates Transform/bone rigs per vine.
  • Use VegetationAPI for gameplay scripting; renderer/cache classes are not intended as public gameplay APIs.
